Skills Awards - How much fun can you have on a bike?
Want
to improve your riding? Progress, achieve? Perhaps you want to ride out by yourself,
or with friends more, even become a Leader and get a job riding your bike!
Maybe, you just want to enjoy mountain biking.
The Skill Awards prove you can do it, and show you how you get better. They work for you, giving you extra skills and evidencing your achievement - you could even use them at school or college.
You can also do a Young Leader Award.
What do the Go-mtb awards cover?
Go-mtb has five levels progressing from the fundamentals of mountain biking right up to jumps, drops and independant
riding. Each level is split into four parts:
- Riding skills
- Sharing the outdoors
- First aid
- Being independant and self supporting
When you start your first award (whichever level that might be), you get a handbook to show you how much you have already done, and what the next stages are. This helps record your experiences as well. Each time you complete a full element, or a complete award level, you receive a certificate to go with the satisfaction of success!.
There are also twitter and facebooks you can access once you've started to share your riding experiences with your friends.
How do I get to take part?
Find your nearest CTC qualified Leader. There are 5000 of them, so ask around if anyone you already know is one. Ask teachers, youth workers, group leaders or anyone you know who is into mountain biking. If you don't know any Leaders, you can seek out one of CTC's Skill Partners.
Ultimately, if you can't find anyone, contact us and we will see if we can put you in touch with some local providers.
